Project GRAPEful!

Project GRAPEful

Grape News LogoBringing this blog out of mothballs in order to share some GRAPE Stuff!  Check it out!
Our company, Grape Stuff, (A play on words for Great Stuff) is hosting a Thanksgiving event called: Project GRAPEful.  For the next 21 days ending on Thanksgiving day sharing inspiring stories and things they (we) are “GRAPEful” for in order that these tidbits bless readers, bring peace and strength each day.  We are going to participate by sharing here as well each day and are contributing to the prizes offered for winners sharing the most inspiring stories!

My family started the year off with an unexpected downturn in our finances as my husband lost his job in February.  Despite this, we have banded together as a family not only to redesign Art of Eloquence, but to create a new company, Grape Stuff, and embarked on an adventure of sharing our first product with the Amazon family.  Though starting a new business has been a struggle for us–especially since I’ve had a difficult year health wise, we have learned a lot–not the least of which is that we can count on each other and the Lord to bless us.

So today, I’m thankful for my family and my Father in Heaven for the unending support!

What are your struggles and what are you thankful for today?  Please share as a comment down below this post. And please share this post with your Facebook family and other social media friends to inspire them to come and share their own as well.  We’ll be praying for each person listed below.

Here’s what will be awarded for the contest so far:

1. The most inspirational story

2. The person who shared our blog posts the most

3. The most insightful thing gained from doing this project

Prizes will include:

GGB Main Pix

Grape Grill Buddy BBQ Grill Mats

Grape ReporterHi folks!  I have some purple news to share with you this month.

I haven’t had as much time to focus on this site since my Hashimoto’s Disease kind of took over my purple life.  Right now I have two other blogs, one website, a newsletter and two Facebook fan pages to run so I’m afraid I’m taking a sabbatical from this blog for a while.  But…since purple is so much a part of who I am, you can follow me and my quirky sense of humor and purple style several other places on the net:

Join us on the For the Love of Purple Facebook fan page, the Art of Eloquence Facebook fan page, my Art of Eloquence weekly blog, and my newest blog full of grape fun,

Don’t forget that you can still access the other pages of purple fun on this site:

Have a grape time!

My newest purple things

Last month was my birthday and I got some fabulous new purple things to add to my grape collection.  From left to right starting in the back:

My new purple heart keyring is something I actually picked up at a Sports Authority the month prior.  I love it because it fits on my purse strap so I always know where my keys are!

The lavender body butter smells JUST like lavender but it’s quite greasy.  I use it at night and love the aroma when going to sleep.  Mom got that for me when I went with her to the first of our annual craft fairs.  Thanks Mom!

The purple and lime green salt and pepper shakers were made for me by my daughter.  LOVE them. Aren’t they cute?

The one-eyed, purple minion was also a gift from my daughter.  She got a few minions while eating out at McDonald’s. She told me about the purple one and had to get it for me.  Thanks, Sweetie!

Finally, the purple iPhone cover was a gift from my husband. Or rather it was a bribe so he could get me into the 21st century when my purple flip phone died.  I have the entire hilarious misadventure written up as some of my Daily Life Laughs on my JoJoisms blog.  Here’s the first of in the series I called As the iPhone Turns!

For the rest of my birthday adventures, check out my JoJoisms post about how I began DEaging this year!

My purple birthday menu

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’m going to be 51 this month and I’ve been trying to eat healthier for me, esp considering I have Hashimoto’s disease.  How can I purple-ize this?

Blackberries in my vanilla protein shake

Blueberries in my turkey and spinach salad

Purple food coloring in my unsweetened apple sauce chicken.

Blueberries in my almond butter and almond milk pops.

How do you purple-ize your meals?  Share! And have a GRAPE Day!

Dove Lavender Bar Soap Review

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThere’s a grape new soap in town and it’s from Dove.  It’s called Go Fresh Rebalance.

I generally don’t like processed bar soaps. They generally don’t smell very nice and aren’t as luscious as the handmade bars, but I really did like this one.  And…it’s very reasonably priced.

It’s not my favorite dark purple color and it’s not the clear glassy glycerine soap I love so much, but it’s a very lovely shade of lavender.  And it smells heavenly!

Have you tried it?  What do you think?  Share your thoughts.

Have a Grape Day.

Introducing: Purple Story Go Round!

purple dressI’m introducing a new feature to the blog that I hope will put you all in a creative mood and I pray you will all participate.  I call it Purple Story Go Round.  I’ve actually done this before and it was a LOT of fun.  Here’s how it works:

Each month, I’m going to announce a theme for our monthly purple story.  This month’s theme is Father’s Day.   Then I’ll start the story off here.  The idea is for you, the reader, to contribute to the story, by adding to it in a comment.  Then the next person will continue the story adding their comment and so on and so on.  You should be able to read the entire story by reading the comments in order.  Make the story as grape as you can by using as many purple references and the sillier it is, the better!

Here we go…

Once upon a time, there lived a father and his three daughters.  They all lived out in the woods in a lavender house covered in grape vines.  One afternoon when the lavender was in bloom, his eldest daughter, Violet, set out to gather up a bouquet.  She was gone for three hours when her sister, Mauva, began to get worried.

Mauva was only half way to Lavender Hill when…

Continue the story by posting it in a comment.  For best story results, please read the previous comments so you know what has happened to the characters up til you joined the story.  Your installment may be as short or as long as you desire and you may come back as often as you like and add to the story.  It will continue all month.  Next month will be a new topic and a new story line.

Thanks for participating, happy Father’s Day and have a grape day!

Grape Jello Bundt Cake

Grape Jello Bundt Cake1

I found this recipe for Jello Poke Cake on, but I did some substitution.  Here’s what the recipe said:

What You Need

1 pkg.  (2-layer size) white cake mix
1 cup  boiling water
1 pkg.  (3 oz.) JELL-O Strawberry Flavor Gelatin
1/2 cup  cold water
1 tub  (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

Make It

PREPARE cake batter and bake as directed on package for 13×9-inch pan. Cool cake in pan 15 min. Pierce cake with large fork at 1/2-inch intervals.

ADD boiling water to gelatin mix in small bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in cold water; pour over cake. Refrigerate 3 hours.

FROST cake with COOL WHIP. Refrigerate 1 hour.

I substituted grape jello for strawberry and poured it into a bundt pan instead and didn’t top it at all.  The problem I had was that the poking didn’t limit the jello entering just those areas.  It seeped into the entire porous cake.    BUT it tasted good and it looked nice and purple.

If you try it, please let me know how it turned out!

My Purple Book Title Contest

My purple house and dino egg 032A long time ago, in a purple galaxy far, far away, I began writing a grape eBook sharing all my secrets for redesigning things inexpensively  in order to make them purple.  Due to some other deadlines, I had to abandon this project long ago.  However, I’d like to pick it back up again and see it through to completion.

It will cover things like:

1. Tie Dying, applique, sewing, puff paints and other ways to purple-ize clothingFlower shirt 002

2. Inexpensive ways to add purple touches to the rooms of your house

3. Creative and fun crafts for kids

4. Purple recipes

5. Ways to make ordinary food purple using food coloring, fruit, etc.

and much more!  It won’t just be perfect for those of us who seek to purple-ize our lives, but also for those wishing to re-purpose items instead of wasting them or having to purchase new.

Purple-izing for Pennies Cover

My original idea was to call it Purple-izing for Pennies, but I don’t think that will work well because I want to write it not just for purple lovers but for all who want to repurpose things in order to save money.  So…what would you call such an eBook?  I’d really love to hear your ideas.

If I actually use your title, I will give you a free copy of the eBook as a thank you!

Thank you and…

Grape Jelly Chicken Recipe w/an Apple Sauce Twist

With unsweetened apple sauce.  Delish

A friend of mine said she made a good chicken dish using grape jelly.  I thought it sounded gross, but she said it was really good.  So I looked online for a recipe and found several. Some used dried mustard, some used ketchup. Some used lots of different spices and some used just these ingredients.  I didn’t have most of these ingredients so I was still searching when I discovered that one of the recipes using just mustard and ketchup said it tasted almost like a grape BBQ sauce.  So I decided to try it using BBQ sauce!

It was very good, but I hadn’t used the rest of the grape jelly in a long time.  In talking with my daughter on the phone about her dinner plans, I got the idea to add unsweetened apple sauce instead of BBQ sauce and to use my crockpot instead of my oven.  So I tried it.  Know what?  It was really good and it created a thicker sauce with a unique texture.  Here’s the revised recipe.  Try it and tell me how it turned out for you!

1 cup grape jelly

1/4 cup BBQ sauce

squirt of Dijon mustard  (Replace both of these with unsweetened apple sauce)

1 pound chicken tender strips

Line the bottom of the crock pot with chicken tender strips and add in the grape jelly. Pour the apple sauce on top, just enough to cover the chicken.  Set the crock pot for whatever time frame you need, stirring occasionally until done.

Enjoy and…Have a GRAPE Day!
